Power Wheelchairs
Power wheelchairs are often a more suitable option for those who are physically unable to self propel a manual wheelchair. The two most common types of power wheelchairs are mid-wheel drive and center-wheel drive. These chairs are available in a wide variety of seat widths, depths, heights and feature a number of armrest, legrest and seating options. Power chairs allow users of every strength to control the chair with a joystick while higher end models offer a multitude of alternative control options: proximity switches, sip-n-puff, head arrays, infrared switches and magnetic angle sensors to name a few.
Popular brands or suppliers include: Invacare • Sunrise Medical • Pride Mobility • Permobil Inc.
